Bargain Bin Reviews: Handel’s Messiah Highlights
Handel’s Messiah Highlights
The Oratorio Society of New York
Price: $1.67
Verdict: It’s Handel’s Messiah. It’s done pretty well. Musically, it’s worth maybe $3; it’s certainly not the most exciting rendition ever but it works. Personally, though, I’m very glad I bought it.
This is part of a sequence of reviews on CDs I found at bargain piles in the local CD stores, thrift stores or some other place that sells really cheap CDs. Want to read more bargain bin reviews?
It’s Handel’s Messiah. Well, the first part and the Hallelujah chorus. I’m sure there are people with many more degrees than I do who can review this better. Go Google for a review of the actual music. I’ll talk about something else.
I forgot that I had this imported into iTunes until earlier today. Although I’ve been listening to parts of it as part of my playlist I’m still surprised that I actually bought and am listening to classical and Christmas music. At the same time. Which is pretty rare; as in, it has never happened before.
In fact, I wouldn’t have bought this CD if it wasn’t for the fact that I sang parts of it a week prior. I kind of wanted a reference in case I needed to remember some parts of it for some reason. And it actually has been a very good reference: I’ve played parts of it several times already, intentionally, for informational purposes, in the last few days.
